To begin the new years Mercedes has developed an automoble that is not only appealing to the eye, but your wallet as well. Like the beauty of nature it takes your breath away. Introducing the all new Mercedes CLA 45 AMG. It's base model is Mercedes first front wheel drive car sold in the states and even though it's a small displacement engine the turbocharged 2.0l still packs a punch with an impressive 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft torque . In fact with boost levels at 26.1 psi it's the most powerful 4cylinder engine you can find in production , more powerful than the new Subaru STI, Mitsubishi Evo, and Mazda's speed 3 . The engine is mated to a 7 speed dual clutch transmission and shifts can be controlled via aluminum shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel. Mercedes also claims the CLA will rocket you to a 0-60 mph of 4.5 seconds and top speeds of 167 mph with Mercedes optional Driver's Package.
With the base model starting at $29,900 and the AMG model as show above at $47,450 this German engineered beauty is Mercedes least expensive vehicle in the United States. It's also equipped with Mercedes start/stop feature allowing it to decrease gas guzzling with 23 city / 31 highway. Compared to it's competitors the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG is good on gas and your wallet in my opinion. Personally I like the idea and the direction Mercedes is headed, but will the majority of it's consumers. It's obvious that Mercedes may attract the younger import tuner crowd but will it actually steer young import tuners away from their Mitsubishi Evolution , Subaru STI or Mazda Speed 3's. This all new Mercedes models have been designed with a Ninja Turtle face lift as I like to call it, aggressive body-lines and the ultimate sport luxury interior on the market in my opinion, also the most powerful turbocharged 4 cylinder in production. Could Mercedes be setting new standards, forcing the competition to step it up a notch with their 4 door turbocharged models. What do you think ?
